SEPT. 9, 2008 • Take-Two Interactive announced it would immediately outsource its Jack of All Games distribution through Ditan Distribution LLC. Ditan takes on warehousing and shipping functions from Jack of All Games, with the latter now focused upon purchasing sales and service.
Impact: The question begged to be answered is, “Why?” Fewer independent retailers to service? Insufficient capital to invest into distribution to remain competitive? Streamlining expenditures in advance of an expected hostile takeover? Streamlining expenditures in advance of a friendly takeover? We suspect distemper in the margins servicing independent dealers, which would be one more result of the general consolidation running rampant in all aspects of the video game industry.
