AUG. 31, 2010 • Interplay Ent. Corp. is showing more signs of life. In addition to development of its Fallout MMO, the firm has announced a new sub-brand label called Interplay Discovery to market third-party titles. The firm’s plan is to discover new developers with promising new, almost complete IP in need of distribution.
Impact: It’s been a long time since Interplay was a major player in the games industry. The publisher is best know in recent years for legal troubles with ZeniMax over control of properties from Interplay’s heyday. What level of expertise Interplay can bring to publishing anyone’s titles in 2010 is an unknown. We’re definitely curious, but will have to wait and see.
