JULY 21, 2009 • In an interview with the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Terminal Reality president Mark Randel told the newspaper that it’s recently released Ghostbusters game was completed on a budget between $15 million and $20 million. The title has sold more than 1 million units.
Impact: A budget of under $20 million is actually cheap for a high-end title. Furthermore, Ghostbusters can be considered a new franchise based on a fairly old license. On top of that, it was published by Atari, a struggling company. Reviews for the game were solid, but not spectacular. In short, given all these factors and the struggling economy it is a real positive that Ghostbusters was able to sell over a million units in its first month on the market.
