Wii Best-Seller in Japan
JULY 19, 2007 • Japanese publisher Enterbrain reports that more than 3 million Wii units have been sold in Japan as of July 15, followed by 1 million PS3s, and 421,000 Xbox 360s. The publisher also said more than 18 million Nintendo DSs had been sold at retail by the same date.
Impact: The real story in Japan is the Nintendo DS which is on track to be the best-selling system ever in that market. More and more it looks like the Wii is starting to ride the DS coattails and picking up steam as the Wii is progressively increasing its sales lead over the PlayStation 3. Enterbrain has also reported that in June the Wii outsold the PS3 by a 6-to-1 margin, versus 5-to1 in May and 4-to1 in April.
