DEC. 14, 2009 • After ZeniMax’s mid-year acquisition of studio id Software, the latter’s upcoming upcoming shooter, Rage, will now be marketed and published by ZeniMax’s Bethesda Softworks. The title had previously been slated for release by EA Partners.

Impact: Given EA’s paucity of home run hits from its own developers, losing Rage distribution is just one more hit the publisher could have done without. Games from id usually perform well at retail, and were a revenue bulwark for Activision for many years.
