People’s Liberation Army in China has Mission of Honor
MAY 12, 2011 • The U.S. Army has it own promotion and training tool in America’s Army, now the People’s Liberation Army in China has Mission of Honor. The game was co-developed by the PLA’s Nanjing command, and the Wuxi Giant Interactive Group Inc. Gameplay is divided into three sections: basic training, individual missions and team combat.
Impact: So far, most coverage of Mission of Honor has centered on the game as an army training tool. We suspect that the appeal to national pride, and the huge number of PC gamers in the country, will lead to a huge player base in the coming months. So much of the game content produced in China has a fantasy bent, we think Mission of Honor will be an intriguing test case for more realistic franchises, and where the Chinese game market is heading.
