GTA IV Sells 1.3M
JUNE 12, 2008 • According to NPD Funworld data, more than 1.3 million units of Grand Theft Auto IV have been sold in the U.S. during its two months in release. Indications are, however, is that the game is not fueling a significant increase in console hardware sales.
Impact: In Europe, the Xbox 360 price was dropped shortly before the launch of GTA IV. That seems to have helped drive hardware sales for the platform. It appears that many consumers may be waiting in anticipation of price drops in the U.S. There is a good chance that GTA IV could have continued strong sales through the year as more hardware systems are sold.
