Google TV is coming.

MAY 20, 2010 • Google is now taking its Android mobile operating systems to internet connected TVs with Google TV, which runs the Google Chrome web browser. In addition to all of the usual TV channels, users can access the Internet, as well as cloud-based applications and Adobe Flash based content. Announced Google TV partners include Best Buy, Dish Network, Intel, Sony, and Logitech.

Impact: Google branding is just what Internet TVs need to get the attention of consumers. With all of the hoopla surrounding 3D televisions, it will be easy for Internet options to get lost in the conversation. But given how pervasive Gmail and Google Search are, connected TVs may finally get some traction at retail.
