7-Eleven Tries Used Games
APRIL 19, 2010 • Although Wal-Mart has jumped out of the used games business, convenience store chain 7-Eleven is jumping in. Dubbed the Great Games Below $20 program, the retailer will sell used games at 3,000 of its locations in partnership with vendor Game Trading Technologies in Maryland. A selection of platforms will be promoted at $19.99 or less.
Impact: Game Trading Technologies saw revenue double in 2009 to nearly $37 million. 7-Eleven has a huge retail presence, with nearly 6,000 stores in the U.S. However, the program is actually fairly minor in the grand scheme of things. 7-Eleven already carries used movies and each store will carry less than 100 games.
