Xbox 360 Sells 9M in Europe
AUG. 14, 2009 • Chris Lewis, vice president of Interactive Entertainment Business for Microsoft EMEA told trade publication MCV that the Xbox 360 has surpassed 9 million units sold in Europe and accounts for 27% of the market.
Impact: The Xbox 360 passed the 9 million unit market several months ahead of DFC’s forecast. This was helped by aggressive pricing and Sony’s struggles. It will be interesting to see how a retooled PS3 fares in the final months of 2009. The Europe performance of the Xbox 360 and PS3 in late 2009 will be the battleground we watch most closely for our next round of five-year forecasts.
