Fun4All Label Comes to U.K.
FEB. 16, 2009 • The Fun4All label was launched in the U.K. by Activision Blizzard to better attract owners of the Nintendo Wii. The line debuted with six family titles, each featuring a selection of Nintendo-style social mini-games. The publisher launched a similar label called “Wee 1st” in North America last fall.
Impact: Third-party publishers have historically struggled making money on Nintendo platforms. Nintendo is now doing so well with the DS and Wii that there is no longer the option to ignore these platforms. Going the casual game route is a low cost, low risk way to break into the Wii market. However, it may be more about making a quick buck than establishing a long term presence on the platform. There will be plenty of competition in this space and even a powerhouse publisher like Activision Blizzard may struggle to make its product standout.
