JUNE 1, 2009 • One new Xbox Live feature Microsoft Game Studios did not highlight at this summer’s E3 was a new download service for full Xbox 360 titles. Games on Demand will go live in August with approximately 30 existing titles at full retail price. Xbox 360 owners won’t be forced to use Microsoft Points to purchase the games with standard credit cards transactions accepted. Phil Harrison Steps Down at Atari

MAY 29, 2009 • Just weeks after Infogrames sold Atari’s European business to Namco Bandai, Atari president Phil Harrison stepped down from overseeing daily operations of the division. Harrison, best known for his years with Sony’s PlayStation business, had been in the job for 14 months. Atari said Harrison will remain on its board as non-executive Director of the Group. Schilling Buys Big Huge Games

MAY 27, 2009 • Boston Red Sox veteran baseball player Curt Schilling purchased Big Huge Games from THQ Inc. The acquisition is intended to significantly augment Schilling’s own 38 Studios. The latter has an Unreal engine-based MMO titled Copernicus in development. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Impact: Big Huge Games is a top class development shop that simply was not a good fit for THQ, a company that specialized in B grade licensed pro.....
