JAN. 12, 2012 • Heatwave Interactive has announced it was taking its Roman themed Gods and Heroes MMO free-to-play later this year. While the transition process is undertaken, the publisher has eliminated all fees previously required to play the game, and opened up all content for free access.
Impact: Gods & Heroes goes way back and was originally scheduled to launch way back in 2005. In 2007 the game was put on hold for two years until Heatwave Interactive acquired the rights and restarted development. The game finally launched in mid-2011 into a market where even the most high-end MMOGs were struggling to build a subscriber base. Given the market conditions Heatwave really had no choice to make the game free-to-play to try and salvage its investment.
