OCT. 16, 2007 • Nintendo confirms that Wii Music is in development and will ship in 2008. The game is slated to use the Nunchuk and Wii mote to control up to four musicians simultaneously, with the CPU controlling additional band members in single-player mode. Up to four players can work together, with 40 instruments to choose from.
Impact: At E3 there were questions about when the Wii would see a music product. Nintendo executives expressed some skepticism about whether the music/rhythm genre was a fad that may have peaked. With all the excitement around Guitar Hero III and Rock Band it seems music games are still hot. The beauty of Wii Music is that it will use the existing controllers. This could make it a low cost alternative for music game fans.
