FEBRUARY 25, 2009 • Strong sales of Square Enix’s Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope propelled the Xbox 360 above the Wii and PlayStation in Japan. For the week ending Feb. 22, 25,334 Xbox 360s were sold, compared to 16,973 Wiis and 16,149 PS3, according to Media Create.
Impact: Once again a single title drives a spike in Xbox 360 sales. The Xbox 360 saw a similar leap in September when, on the same day, the price point was lowered and Square Enix launched Infinite Undiscovery. In that week, it was reported over 28,000 Xbox 360s were sold. Unfortunately, these sales spikes tend to be short lived.
