AUG. 1, 2011 • Sony Computer Ent. acquired long-time Bellevue, Washington-based development collaborator Sucker Punch. The developer is best known for the PlayStation exclusive franchises Sly Cooper and inFamous. Terms were not disclosed.
Impact: DFCÂ suspects that the decision by Insomniac Games’ to go multi-platform did not sit well at Sony. Acquiring Sucker Punch locks another important developer into exclusive PlayStation content. With PlayStation technology getting long in tooth, exclusive premium content takes on more importance as a substantial driver of hardware sakes.
